WHY NOW?

In response to the burgeoning youth mental health crisis and inspired by the passionate advocacy of former NH Supreme Court Justice John Broderick, a group of community-focused organizations created this film as a tool to support grassroots efforts to improve youth mental well being. The film debuted at TEDxPorsmouth in 2023, alongside Broderick's heart-wrenching TED talk that describing his family's experience with mental health that set him on the path to life-long advocacy.

This problem is real.
It's urgent.
And with a little effort from each of us, we can fix this.

The film adeptly provides an opening to start conversations that need to be had between youth and the older generations.
The frank and honest perspectives of local teenagers are positioned alongside the people who work every day to support them- mental health experts, school counselors, parents and advocates to let viewers know that:

Join us in a new understanding of youth mental well-being and help drive positive change- in your school, your community, your neighborhood, your home.

Utilize the film discussion guide as a starting point for conversation and see where the discussion leads.

A seven minute film can't capture all perspectives on youth mental health.  We hope you'll share your feedback, ideas and perspectives that arise in your conversations, please share them with us to be considered for a "second chapter' We Can Fix This short film.
